History
Meteorologen is the oldest building in Riksgränsen. It was built in 1903 and was the area’s customs house at the beginning of the century. Later, SMHI’s meteorologists used the building and ever since then it has been known as Meteorologen. In recent decades the building was for housing staff at the resort of Riksgränsen. In 2005 Meteorologen was carefully renovated and rebuilt, and the old timber frame was used as the basis of a modern, comfortable hotel. The building has also had an external facelift which attempted to fulfil cultural and historical ambitions and recreate the original exterior. The architect responsible for the renovation was Hans Murman.
